Wallingford Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned and operated, two-doctor small animal practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and their families. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Veterinary Receptionist to join our team.
This role requires a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal care, as well as the ability to handle various administrative responsibilities efficiently. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), including Saturdays. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar effectively.
- Maintain patient records, ensuring all information is up-to-date and confidential.
- Provide clients with information regarding pet care, services offered, and general veterinary practices.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, prescription requests, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Process payments, manage billing, and assist with financial transactions.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the reception area, exam rooms, and waiting room.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Requirements:
- Previous veterinary experience required, with knowledge of veterinary terminology essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computer systems, scheduling software, and electronic medical records.

- Experience in animal handling, including dog handling and restraint techniques preferred, but not necessary.
