Gretchen's House Child Care Centers in north Ann Arbor are accepting applications for School-Age teachers in our after-school programs. Regular work hours are 2:45-5:15, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be available to work all 5 days.

Pay rate is based on educational background - $16.72-$20.10/hour.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Program Instructor to join our team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a variety of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities for students after school hours
  • Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment that encourages student participation
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and program activities
  • Manage classroom behavior and promote respectful interactions among students
  • Assist with homework support and academic enrichment when needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized activity space

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a group of children with patience and enthusiasm
  • Creative and proactive in developing engaging activities
  • Reliable, responsible, and punctual
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in education or child development are a plus
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

  • Appropriate Attendance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft excel, word other computer skills as needed.
  • Organizational skills relating to time management, space arrangement, prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and families
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
  • Sensitive to the individual needs of families
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Ability to seek supervision and use it constructively
  • Chauffeur license or CDL preferred but not required
