The Client Experience and Meaningful Life Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking interns to join our team Work schedule is 13 hours/week: Sundays and one weekday evening (2:30-8:30pm), which is subject to change.

Job Summary: Assist Community Life Activities, Volunteers, Religious Life & Therapeutic Recreation staff in running meaningful engagement activities with the residents both one- to- one and in a group setting.

Job Duties:

  • Assist staff with on-unit activities including sing- along, music appreciation, exercise, dance, games, crafts etc.

  • Provide one-on-one interactions such as reading to resident, Music & Memory, Technology, letter writing, games, and conversation.

  • Assist with transportation to off-unit programming.

  • Assist with off-unit programs as needed but not limited to: transporting residents to and from program, and decorating the auditorium.

  • Assist with hanging monthly Activity Calendars and decorating communities.

  • Assists in guiding volunteers and volunteer group projects.

  • Coaches and mentors new volunteers.

  • Takes an active role in new volunteer onboarding, i.e. communication with potential volunteers, assisting with tracking and transitioning into registered volunteers.

  • Assists with Volunteer Office clerical functions, such as logistics, record keeping, ID making.

  • Position shift includes weekends/evenings, 20-23 hours part time per week

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • Must be a high school or college student
  • Must have previous volunteer or intern experience at The New Jewish Home
