NUTEC is an integrated provider of planning, architecture, interior design, engineering, facilities management, and construction services. NUTEC'S professional staff has a diverse project portfolio including industrial, corporate, institutional, and government facilities. Our Team Focused- Design Driven solutions are provided under direction of an experienced team of project managers that can guide our clients from the initial stages of planning through design, construction, and occupancy. Additional in-house services include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, structural, civil, geo-environmental and landscape design.

Objective

Primary responsibilities will include leading the Structural team by coordinating the daily operations of highly skilled engineering staff while directing and overseeing the production and coordination of structural deliverables for projects. The department manager will provide a strong structural knowledge to all design team members.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff as needed.

· Provides top-level management for all design and engineering teams.

· Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

· Provides staff training to advance individual professional development goals.

· Requires company policies and procedures are being followed by all team members.

· Discipline issues are addressed in a timely manner and documented.

· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

· Documents staff trainings, departmental meetings, outside seminars, webcasts and vendor presentations.

· Demonstrates company's core values with both internal team members and external clients. Positive client feedback is maintained at all times.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

· Leads and coordinates various engineering functions and operations including quality assurance, testing, production, and research and development of design criteria.

· Facilitates communication among clients/customers and team members, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.

· Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets. Keeps design change orders caused by errors and omissions less than 2%,

· Assess potential projects for feasibility by researching and analyzing associated technology, design requirements, governmental regulations, and market demand.

· Prepare and present design proposals to clients according to deadlines and explain relevant details, reports, expense line items, and goals in clear and persuasive language.

· Review, coordinate and oversee all technical activities relating to engineering projects, including directing the design team, reviewing drafts and computer models, and approving design changes. Scope changes are reported immediately and accompanied by a change order to client/consultant.

· Communicate directly with project managers, production staff, marketing personnel, and clients to discuss and organize projects from original conceptual design through construction. Clients are updated weekly of project status.

· Checklists are updated, distributed, completed and reviewed on every project.

· Meeting minutes are distributed within 48 hours.

· Ensures department is profitable and projects achieve minimum of 10% profitability. Ability to run reports from financial software.

· Accounts receivable monitored and calls made to delinquent accounts. No A/R exceeds 120 days.

· Invoices are reviewed and approved within the parameters set by accounting each billing cycle.

· Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards.

· Prepares and executes departmental budget.

· Negotiates contracts with clients/vendors and are in place at start of project.

· Remain up-to-date with current and trending elements of design, construction, and technology by reading industry publications, manuals, and textbooks and attending professional development courses and events as time permits.

· Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures for engineering work as necessary to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. Continually update departmental manuals, standards and checklists.

· Review and approval of timesheets.

· Assure project schedules are being accommodated and work within department is balanced among team members. Appropriate staff is assigned to project team.

· Complete staff workload and attend project scheduling meeting.

· Ensure department equipment is adequate and properly maintained.

· Empowers and inspires team members.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Proficient with computer-aided drafting/modeling (CAD/REVIT/Civil 3D) software appropriate for departments.

· Proficient with departmental software and design programs.

· Ability to work efficiently remotely and maintain connectedness with team.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering required.

· Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.

· At least eight to fourteen years of related experience required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100, $120,000.00 per year
