As a Service Writer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction by accurately assessing vehicle needs, providing estimates, and facilitating the repair process.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assess their vehicle service needs.
• Provide detailed estimates for repairs and maintenance services.
• Communicate effectively with service technicians to relay customer concerns and repair requirements.
• Upsell additional services based on vehicle diagnostics and maintenance schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
• Handle cash transactions and manage billing processes efficiently.
• Ensure that all service writing is clear, concise, and meets company standards.
• Stay updated on automotive technology trends and service techniques.

Parts Sourcing

• Identify and order the correct parts needed for service and repair jobs
• Work closely with vendors, manufacturers, and parts departments to ensure timely availability
• Verify part compatibility with specific makes and models
• Monitor parts deliveries and follow up on delays to keep repairs on schedule
• Assist in maintaining accurate parts records for warranty and billing purposes

Requirements

• Previous dealership experience is required.
• Strong understanding of auto service management principles.
• Experience in upselling automotive services to customers.
• Background in mechanic work or automotive diagnostics is required.
• Solid mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, and auto body repair.
• Customer service experience with a focus on building relationships and providing exceptional support.
• Proficiency in auto estimating and sales processes within the automotive industry.
• Familiarity with automotive repair procedures and terminology.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to customers clearly.
