Role Description

We're seeking an experienced grocery professional to lead our Grocery department and deliver exceptional service grounded in sustainability and community values. The Store Leader will manage all aspects of grocery operations including daily operations, training and managing staff, ensuring superior customer service, and driving sales while building strong relationships with local and regional suppliers. Your leadership will ensure our shelves reflect our commitment to organic, sustainable, and place-based products.

We're looking for an experienced retail leader

manage all store operations and lead our team in delivering exceptional service grounded in sustainability and community values. You'll oversee daily operations, supervise department managers, ensure financial accountability, and bring our mission to life through authentic customer connections and strong local partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing, floor management, and safety compliance
  • Manage POS systems, reporting, and inventory accuracy
  • Ensure store layout, maintenance, and compliance with all health and licensing standards
  • Lead operations meetings and foster strong communication across departments

Team Development

  • Hire, train, and mentor department managers and staff
  • Support growth through coaching, evaluations, and participatory leadership
  • Build a motivated, service-oriented culture with effective scheduling and teamwork

Financial Management

  • Set and track sales, margin, and labor goals within budget
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, and supply chain efficiency
  • Collaborate on annual budgets and pricing strategies
  • Review financial reports and take action to meet targets

Community & Merchandising

  • Highlight local and sustainable products through thoughtful merchandising
  • Partner with Marketing on promotions and community events
  • Oversee donations and local partnerships that align with store values
  • Stay current with natural food trends and regional sourcing opportunities

This role reports to the General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum
    5 years of grocery retail management experience
    , ideally in the natural foods sector
  • Strong background in
    store operations, inventory control, and team leadership
  • Experience with
    POS systems, budgeting, and staff training
  • Genuine passion for
    natural foods, organic products, and local sourcing
  • Solid
    financial acumen
    with experience in
    budget management and reporting
  • Excellent
    communication and team development
    skills
  • Problem-solving mindset
    with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient with
    computer tools
    , including spreadsheets, word processing, and POS software
  • Able to
    lift up to 50 lbs
    and stay active on your feet throughout the day
  • Comfortable with
    hands-on work
    , including stocking, reaching, and handling products
