The Senior Director, Point of Sale (POS) Systems is a senior executive leader responsible for the strategy, performance, security, and scalability of all POS and digital commerce platforms across ModWash's 125+ express car wash locations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role serves as the organization's primary authority on POS technology, digital transactions, and customer-facing retail systems.
This position partners closely with executive leadership to ensure POS systems directly support revenue growth, operational efficiency, customer experience, and long-term enterprise scalability. The Senior Director leads a distributed team of POS, IT, and customer advocacy professionals while driving modernization, innovation, and system reliability across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Technology Vision
- Develop and execute a company-wide POS and retail technology roadmap aligned with ModWash's long-term growth strategy.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO on technology investments, digital transformation initiatives, and enterprise risk.
- Lead modernization of POS infrastructure to improve uptime, performance, security, and scalability.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage in the express car wash industry.
- Ensure technology strategy supports new site development, acquisitions, and market expansion.
Point Of Sale (POS) Systems & Digital Commerce
- Ensure seamless, secure, and reliable POS operations across all ModWash locations.
- Lead POS enhancements that improve transaction speed, accuracy, user experience, and system stability.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and Marketing to optimize revenue through:
- Digital and contactless payments
- Membership and subscription models
- E-commerce and online sales platforms
- Omnichannel customer engagement
- Oversee data accuracy, reporting integrity, and financial reconciliation tied to POS activity.
- Own strategic vendor relationships and platform decisions related to POS and digital commerce.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of POS systems professionals, IT specialists, and customer advocacy personnel.
- Manage and support a flexible workforce model including fully remote and hybrid team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Establish KPIs, service-level expectations, and performance metrics aligned with executive goals.
- Create structured training programs and career development pathways to retain and grow top talent.
- Develop, manage, and forecast the POS and related technology budgets with direct accountability to the CEO.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and manage contracts with POS vendors, software providers, and service partners.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining high system reliability, security, and service quality.
- Ensure vendor performance meets contractual SLAs and ModWash operational standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Education & Experience- 2+ years' experience Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2–5 years of progressive IT leadership experience with at least 2 years focused on POS systems.
- Extensive knowledge of car wash POS systems including Micrologic, Sonny's, AMP, DRB, and NXT (required).
- Proven track record leading IT conversions, system migrations, and multi-site rollout projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of POS hardware, software, networking, and integrations.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing CAPX budgets and ROI assessments.
- Excellent leadership and team development skills with ability to manage remote teams.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, executive reporting).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-state operational environment.
- Commit to a minimum 50-hour work week with flexibility for extended hours during conversions, new builds, or critical outages.
- Attend a 1-month training program at the ModWash Home Office in Chattanooga, TN to gain deep understanding of ModWash systems, culture, and operations.
- Travel as required for site conversions, training, or escalated technical issues.
2+ years' experience Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
