Company:

The Boeing Company

As Boeing enters the next era of precision engagement, our teams are pioneering solutions that strengthen global security and enable mission success for the United States and our allies. We bring together talented engineers, technologists, and program leaders who take on hard problems, build dependable systems, and deliver real impact. We provide the resources, mentorship, and mission focus—if you have the drive to dream big and deliver, help us build the future.

For decades, the Precision Engagement Systems organization has designed and produced precision-guided weapon systems that defend our nation and support more than 30 allied countries. Our work is challenging, meaningful, and rapidly evolving; we are growing and looking for experienced software project leaders who can translate technical vision into dependable program execution.

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization is seeking an Experienced Software Project Engineer in St. Charles, MO. to lead Operational Flight Program (OFP) software teams supporting Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) and Direct Attack (DA) weapons. The role balances technical leadership with program-level accountability—coordinating cross-functional teams, managing the software development lifecycle, and ensuring fielded software meets rigorous performance, safety, and schedule requirements.

  • Identify root causes for variances, drive corrective action and re-planning, and keep leadership and stakeholders informed.

  • Collaborate closely with systems engineering, test, QA, and supply chain to ensure software is delivered on schedule, within scope, and on budget.

  • Mentor and develop early-career engineers; foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and technical rigor.

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience managing software programs or major software workstreams in aerospace, defense, or a related high-reliability domain.

  • Strong working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, configuration management, and integration/test practices for embedded or flight software.

  • Proven ability to lead earned value management (EVM) processes and produce clear, reliable program forecasts.

  • Excellent communicator who can present technical and programmatic status to technical teams and senior leadership.

  • Collaborative mindset with a track record of working across engineering, manufacturing, and business teams to solve complex problems.

Why Boeing:

  • Work on systems that matter—delivering mission-critical capabilities with global impact.

  • A culture that supports technical excellence, mentorship, and professional growth.

  • The resources and partnerships to take on ambitious engineering challenges and see ideas through to deployment.

  • Campus walking path and outdoor spaces for breaks, walking meetings, and wellness activities.
