Salary Range: $74,465 to $97,000

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director is responsible for the management, leadership, and oversight of the Ciresi Walburn Leadership Fellows program. This is a scholarship and mentorship program for students who are selected based upon their financial need as well as criteria including: commitment to the UST mission of dismantling inequities and demonstrated commitment to leadership, service, and furtherance of social justice and the common good. The Director will oversee day-to-day program operations and manage all facets of the program.

The Director will ensure the following services are provided: Offering ongoing mentorship and support with the goal of empowering Fellows to graduate within four years and thereafter secure meaningful employment or pursuit of an advanced degree; developing and executing program elements, student leadership development; career exploration and preparation; on-campus student employment; academic and financial assistance counseling; mentoring; community leadership; regular cohort gatherings; program retreats; paid internships; and civic engagement opportunities.

The Director works closely with other campus service providers as well as the Ciresi Walburn Foundation to develop programming, support services, student tracking databases, and program evaluation.

This position reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Student Achievement and will supervise one program coordinator and any student employees. To learn more, visit: Ciresi Walburn Leadership Fellows. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee the development and ongoing operation of the Ciresi Walburn Leadership Fellows Program. Plans, assigns, and directs work; resolves problems; and executes the goals including:

Program Administration & Infrastructure

  • Maintain a solid administrative and operational infrastructure
  • Analyze, manage, and track budget expenditures and prepare budget reports
  • Report progress to the Ciresi Walburn Foundation
  • Establish tracking of student progress
  • Assist in program evaluation
  • Maintain a program website
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student worker(s)
  • Provide oversight for one program coordinator

Scholar Recruitment, Marketing & Selection

  • Recruit and select Ciresi Walburn Scholars
  • Develop and distribute marketing and recruitment materials

Scholar Support, Mentorship & Student Success Coordination

  • Provide ongoing support to scholars
  • Coordinate campus support for scholars by working with offices including but not limited to: Academic Counseling, Career Services, Dean of Students, Financial Aid, and Retention & Student Success
  • Oversee mentorship and support for scholars
  • Coordinate paid internships, civic engagement opportunities, and research experiences
  • Coordinate with Human Resources about student employment placement

Events, Engagement & Visibility 

  • Coordinate forums and other events that highlight and celebrate Fellow success

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach one 4-credit leadership course required of fellows
  • Teach one section of FYEX 100 (First Year Experience) required for all incoming fellows
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree 
  • Five years of experience in program administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in a major related to Student Development, Teaching/Education, Counseling, Mentorship, or Social and Behavior Sciences
