Title:
IT Resource Manager
(Contract)- Job#5942
Location:
Boston, MA/ Mostly Remote

Job Description
Our client located in Boston, MA has an immediate opening for an IT Resource Manager to join their team. The IT Resource Manager is responsible for the strategic allocation of human capital across the IT organization. The IT Resource Manager will manage the Supply vs. Demand of labor, ensuring that technical staff are assigned to the highest-priority initiatives. The IT Resource Manager will identify talent gaps, manage staff utilization rates, and balance the workload between Run (keeping the hospital systems stable) and Build (new projects and innovations).

Responsibilities

  • Prioritization Frameworks: Partner with the PMO to lead the intake process, helping IT score requests based on factors including patient safety, regulatory compliance, and ROI.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain the "Demand Forecast"— the database of upcoming projects, maintenance requirements, and other IT resourcing needs.
  • Resource Modeling: Work with IT leads to determine the labor and capital required to fulfill incoming requests.
  • Resource Allocation: Partner with IT managers to assign IT staff to projects and strategic initiatives based on their skills, availability, and project priority.
  • Capacity vs. Capability Analysis: Develop models to determine not just if we have enough people, but the resources with the right skills (e.g., Epic-certified analysts or HL7 integration specialists).
  • Utilization Tracking: Monitor burn rates to ensure staff aren't over-allocated which leads to errors in critical hospital systems and employee turnover.
  • Skill Gap Mapping: Work with HR and IT leadership to identify necessary training for the team to support emerging technologies

Required

  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years in IT Resource Management, Workforce Planning, or Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Healthcare Context: Understanding of the on-call nature of hospital IT and the specialized skill sets required for clinical application support.
  • Tooling: Expertise in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software (e.g., ServiceNow, Workfront, or Smartsheet) for tracking labor hours and allocations.
  • Data Fluency: Ability to visualize which teams are over-leveraged and which have bench time.
