We are a San Diego based Point of Care Diagnostics company who develop and commercialize novel diagnostics based on innovative nucleic acid technologies for various diseases. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented researcher experienced in both engineering (mechanical, microfluidics) and assay development.
We are seeking Postdoctoral Scientist - Point of Care Diagnostics (full-time position) with experience in electrochemistry , microfluidics assay development for the detection of infectious agents and/or host biomarkers. Successful candidate will join a team of scientists, engineers, biologists, clinicians and computational scientists to build point-of-care sample processing devices that can be used in remote settings, and using them in concert with portable sequencing instruments. This research will help transform medicine with a direct impact on human health.
We are seeking a person who has :
· ability of designing and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting
results, and effective troubleshooting throughout the development process.
· knowledge of all aspects of POC/Rapid tests, and/or immunoassay development
to include multiplexed ELISA, production, quality control, and interpretation of the
products.
· ability to organize and prioritize workflows and work effectively and efficiently.
· ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to management
and subordinates.
· knowledge of Design Control, QSRs and ISO 9001 and a working knowledge of
experimental design and interpretation.
· laboratory skills, such as protein purification, antibody conjugation, lateral flow
assay development skill and/or immunoassay development skills
Requirements :
- PhD in Molecular biology, Mechanical, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or similar required.
- Extensive experience building and using microfluidics required.
- Proficient with instrument control using python, labview or Matlab required.
- Extensive experience with rapid prototyping using PDMS, 3D printing, pumping, valving and microfluidic assemblies highly desired.
- Extensive experience building molecular biology assays highly desired.
- Prior experience building DNA, RNA extraction and amplification instruments desired.
- Creative, interdisciplinary problem solver across engineering and molecular biology.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with co-workers
