Member Service Representative

Role
Responsible for accurately processing financial transactions and being an effective source of information for our members: in person and by telephone. Provide friendly, professional, confidential, and effective assistance to members and co-workers assuring a positive experience and minimizing wait time.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform functions for members to assure member's financial needs are addressed in a polite and friendly manner including updating all member information to bring everything current. Accurately place and remove member from lobby tracker system.
· Demonstrate efficiency with financial transactions for checking, savings and borrowing members: posts transactions and pays out funds as requested. Verbally confirm intended transactions with members to assure needs are met and minimize redoing.
· Assist with incoming calls and determine the need of the caller and verify the caller's identity. Then determine if you can provide direct assistance or connect the caller with the appropriate resource to address their need. Research, troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices, and products.
· Stay abreast of all policy changes, familiarize yourself with location of policies and procedures and follow policies and procedures appropriate for each situation.
· Accurately identify and explain to the member products/services that maybe beneficial to them.
· Identify products/services that might be beneficial to the member and provide them with information about the products/services and how they would provide value and encourage them to upgrade their relationship with the credit union. Cross-sell online services and assist members in setting up online enrollment and understanding our online process.
· Ensure compliance with all provisions of the following: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA); Security Procedures; Robbery and Holdup Procedures; all applicable governmental regulations; policies and procedures of Magnolia Federal Credit Union; privacy issues and requirements; and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
· Demonstrate efficient attendance with little to no "occurrences".
· Create and maintain a clean, neat, pleasant work environment by maintaining a professional image. Display a positive outlook and behavior toward members and co-workers.
· Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and regularly lifting cash box of up to 10 lbs. and bags up to 30 lbs on occasion. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
