Position Summary
The Site Operations Manager under the general direction of the Senior Regional Operations Manager, performs duties related to managing daily operation(s) of appropriate instructional program(s) as set forth by CDS to optimize in instruction, evaluation, and preparation of new trainees in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential in the transportation industry.
Role Responsibilities
Oversee complete site operations by ensuring services are provided within budget, action plans developed and implemented to improve operational efficiencies, and efficient management of site capacities (students/labor/equipment). Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and counsel to site staff/Instructors as appropriate.
Manage effective utilization of site fleet assets, and initiate work orders as needed and required. Train, develop, motivate, and evaluate the performance of Instructors/staff, and provide ongoing feedback concerning performance and expectations. Comply with and ensure adherence to CDS Tractor Trailer Training's high level of safety standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
Assign and/or collaborate with site Instructors to complete weekly work schedule, and schedule students accordingly to their training progression. Collaborate with Recruiters/OSS in any schedule modifications due to student absences or other unexpected last-minute cancellations.
Conduct driver facing training in classroom, one-on-one, and hands-on settings by establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities. Provide in-person instruction and/or testing daily to students in the following areas: full pre/post-trip inspections, basic control skills, coupling and uncoupling trailers, logbook management, and over-the-road driving. Maintain accurate records of attendance, class completions, evaluations, and coaching sessions in the appropriate systems.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and communicate necessary information regularly to Instructors, students and TransTech leadership concerning such progress. Perform safety-related functions including, but not limited to, accident reviews, skills, and behavior assessments.
Model safe behaviors and professional interactions with all Instructors, students, and ensure all students are operating equipment safely, and within company policy and expectations.
Position Requirements
Ability to train, coach, and evaluate knowledge and skills of staff. Must have strong presentation, classroom instruction, and skills that facilitate active learning experiences.
Ability to maintain an appropriate professional presence. Must have a valid Class-A CDL license and active/valid DOT Medical Card required.
Demonstrate empathy with students while making a positive impact in their lives. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and practices of safe truck driving, all federal and state traffic laws, and regulations covering tractor-trailer interstate operations.
Ability to communicate professionally with all CDS employees and students while modeling our company mission and values. Skilled in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines; excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to engage effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Maintain flexibility to manage shifting priorities and take action to redirect activities appropriately, function independently, and exercise sound judgment within scope of position responsibilities.
