Summary
The Administrator, Benefits supports the administration, analysis, and continual improvement of the company's health & welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs. This role partners with HR, Payroll, vendors, and employees to ensure accurate eligibility, timely enrollment, compliant operations, clear communications, and insightful reporting. The Administrator leverages Workday and vendor systems to maintain data integrity, resolve issues, and provide exceptional service to associates.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Respond to benefits inquiries (eligibility, coverage, life events, claims direction) with accuracy and service; escalate complex issues to vendors or senior team members as needed.
  • Process elections and qualifying life events; validate evidence of insurability; audit and correct discrepancies to ensure accurate payroll deductions and vendor eligibility.
  • Assist with Open Enrollment planning, configuration updates, testing, employee communications, monitoring, and close-out activities in Workday.
  • Support FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and discretionary leave processes; help monitor requests, maintain records, and update Workday actions in coordination with third-party administrators.
  • Monitor and reconcile HRIS-to-carrier file feeds; investigate and resolve data errors; submit and track tickets with vendors; maintain plan configuration changes under guidance from leadership.
  • Prepare monthly premium invoices, validate against payroll deductions and eligibility files, research variances, obtain approvals, and ensure timely payment; maintain documentation for audit.
  • Support ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA operational compliance (e.g., SPD/SBC distribution tracking, COBRA event coordination, ACA data validations); compile periodic metrics and ad hoc reports.
  • Draft and update employee-facing benefits content (FAQs, intranet posts, job aids) and support benefits orientations/education sessions with HR Communications.
  • Analyze utilization and cost trends; develop insights and recommendations to improve plan value, associate experience, and cost effectiveness; prepare summaries for HR leadership.
  • Follow internal control procedures and protect sensitive personal information in accordance with company policy and privacy requirements.

None.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience in benefits administration and/or benefits analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA/ADA.
  • Proficiency with HRIS (Workday preferred) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables); strong data accuracy and auditing skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving, and written/verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (e.g., PHR/SHRM‑CP, CEBS) or active progress toward certification.
  • Experience with vendor EDI file feeds, benefits invoice reconciliation, and leave administration coordination.
