Summary
The
Medical Assistant (PACE)
supports the PACE Clinic by assisting medical providers and participants through clinical and administrative functions. This position ensures a high standard of patient care and aligns with CalOptima Health's mission-driven culture of

.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Support (95%)
- Participate in a mission-driven culture focused on high-quality performance and customer service.
- Perform and document accurate preliminary data collection, including vitals, medications, allergies, pain levels, and patient complaints.
- Assist primary care providers with procedures such as glucometer tests, urine dip tests, EKGs, injections, phlebotomy, audio testing, and minor procedures.
- Schedule and follow up on patient appointments; manage no-shows and phone inquiries as directed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all treatments, medications, and patient progress.
- Report findings, symptoms, and responses to medical providers promptly.
- Support clinical supply management and equipment logs.
- Assist with front office operations such as answering calls, coordinating appointments, and rooming patients for specialty visits.
Other (5%)
- Complete additional projects or duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience, including at least 1 year working with frail or elderly populations.
- CPR and First-Aid Certification (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a medical office or hospital within the past 3 years.
- Bilingual in English and one of CalOptima Health's threshold languages (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese).
Required Licensure / Certification
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution (Required).

- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and related software systems.
- Flexible to participate in occasional evening or weekend events.
