RIS Rx has quickly become an industry leader in delivering impactful solutions to stakeholders across the healthcare continuum. RIS Rx is proud to offer an immersive service portfolio to help address common access barriers. We don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to our service offerings. This approach has allowed us to have the opportunity to serve countless patients to help produce better treatment outcomes and an overall improved quality of life. Here at RIS Rx, we invite our partners and colleagues to "Rise Up" with us to bring accessible healthcare and solutions for all.

Job Summary

RIS Rx is in a period of rapid growth and transformation. We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, reporting to the CTO, to help scale our engineering organization as we expand our technology platform and product footprint. This is a hands-on leadership role and the ideal candidate is both a strong leader and an active technical contributor who leads by example. You will write code, guide architecture and design decisions, and ensure the engineering team delivers scalable, reliable, and high-quality software that supports RIS Rx's growth trajectory.

The Sr. Manager will balance strategic leadership with tactical execution, driving predictable delivery, technical excellence, and process maturity while helping the team adapt to the demands of a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with product priorities and business goals.
  • Contribute directly to the codebase by designing, reviewing, and implementing functionality.
  • Maintain repeatable, scalable delivery processes that can keep pace with organizational growth.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate business priorities into actionable engineering plans with clear milestones and outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks to maintain delivery predictability and velocity.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across all engineering activities.

Technical Leadership & Hands-On Contribution

  • Act as a technical mentor and contributor, setting engineering standards and best practices through direct example.
  • Participate in architectural design, code reviews, and technical decision-making for key systems and services.
  • Work hands-on with a modern tech stack that includes TypeScript, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
  • Drive adoption of tools, frameworks, and patterns that enable the team to build efficiently and scale confidently.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and technical leads, fostering ownership, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Partner with recruiting to attract top-tier talent who thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
  • Foster a positive engineering culture that values quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Define and track key engineering performance metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time, quality, release cadence) to ensure transparency and improvement.
  • Standardize tools, workflows, and development practices across teams to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide clear reporting and communication to leadership on team performance, risks, and resourcing needs.
  • Anticipate scaling challenges, including infrastructure, process, and team capacity, and implement proactive solutions.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing or leading technical teams.
  • Proven ability to lead by example through hands-on coding, architecture, and technical problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL, with the ability to guide teams in best practices for each.
  • Experience scaling teams and systems in a high-growth SaaS or technology-driven organization.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and project delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, measure, and improve engineering metrics and operational performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical functions.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
