The company's Corporate Affairs & Communications organization is seeking a communications and public relations professional as its new Manager, Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) Communications.
As a member of the Business-to-Business Communications team, this person will support internal and external communications focused on American Express' credit decisioning, fraud modeling, use of artificial intelligence, and other Credit & Fraud Risk-related innovations. This position will report to the Director of Communications, B2B comms.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Create and review internal and external communications content, including talking points, memos, presentations, Amex Newsroom posts, research papers, awards submission, Slack and social posts, and stories for the company intranet (The Square).
- Provide sound counsel and manage sensitive issues and reputational risks, including in-bound media inquiries.
- Lead colleague communications for the Credit and Fraud Risk team, which would include internal amplification of the team's work, organizational announcements, enterprise initiatives, and control management communications.
- Collaborate with senior leaders, communication colleagues and other cross-functional partners across the company.
- Help oversee and manage public relations agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of communications/public relations experience
- Experience working in either technology or finance/banking
- Experience with both internal and external communications
- Strategic client counsel and executive communications experience
- Excellent judgement and innate curiosity
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create connections across functions and levels
- Excellent writing, editing, organizational and presentation skills
- Proven ability to translate technical content into language that is understandable by and compelling to target audiences
- Experience developing and implementing creative public relations and social media programs
- Strong project manager with ability to think independently, quickly, and apply good judgment.
- Strategic problem solver with strong business acumen
- Ability to prioritize workload based on short- and long-term priorities
- Experience in managing public relations agencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct credit, fraud, and risk management experience
- Internal and external communications experience at a publicly traded company
- Experience driving meaningful internal communications initiatives and supporting senior leaders
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
