Job DescriptionThe RoleTechnical Specialist is focused on electrification-based Vehicle Interface & Battery Energy control modules (VICM/BECM) and a second role is offered in the Chassis Suspension domain. Both will be the global voice for technical expertise for these components and/or subsystems. You'll establish and maintain a clear strategy for the VICM/BECM and Chassis controllers and ensure reuse and technical excellence of engineering solutions and components. You'll work with the key stakeholders from execution, performance, and support teams to ensure common implementation of strategy and to promote technical knowledge for the components. We are seeking Engineers with demonstrated technical skills to develop winning/robust BOM strategies, oversee solutions, escalate issues, and deliver continuous improvement for the Vehicle Interface & Battery Energy control modules (VICM/BECM) and Chassis Suspension control modules.Job ResponsibilitiesLead the controller technical review process to assure compliance with global requirementsLead in the development of an Inhouse Designed Controller. You will need to interface across the Compute & Connectivity Hardware as well as the Battery Electronics Advanced Propulsion & Chassis Underbody TeamsMaintain and refresh BOM StrategiesIntimate knowledge of hardware and software interfacesDeliver BOM which meets Imperatives (Cost, Mass, Investment, Quality)Develop Sourcing Strategies. Support Supplier Development and Qualification (TASL)Maintain Global requirements (SSTS & CTRS Templates, etc.)Create and Maintain Best Practices and Inherent CriteriaApprove BOM Picks and assure math data availabilitySupport PRTS Issue Resolution Perform/lead read across for Safety Tether PRTSPerform/lead read across for NHTSA recalls of competitorsSupport Product Investigations (SFI Process)Support Cost ReductionCreate ICDe and ICDm TemplatesSupport CR/DNsProvide technical leadership for troubleshooting activitiesLeads technical support to manufacturing engineering and production facilitiesSupport global supplier evaluation and localization processLead new designs/major redesigns as technical experts to ensure success, and monitor global BOD/BOM/BOP compatibilityLead the controller technical review process to assure compliance with global requirementsProvide technical guidance for current development or production issues.Participate as a co-leader in the Controller Hardware CCBHW Subject Matter Expert to support software, calibration, and integration issuesSupport ATW/workgroups for regulations updates. Act as the hardware voice related to new functionality to meet emissions upgrades.Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Physics or equivalentMinimum of 10 years of experience in applying microprocessor-based controllers to automotive vehicle electrical systems.In-depth knowledge of serial data communicationsIn-depth knowledge of requirements engineering process (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses)In-depth knowledge of verification and validation processesIn-depth knowledge of embedded software development, testing and associated toolsUnderstanding of hardware design and failure modesUnderstanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanismsThorough knowledge of design development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures.Thorough knowledge of vehicle service procedures.Highly developed oral and written communications skillsDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within Electrical and across other SMTs.High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work outputVery high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult.What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)DFSS CertificationExperience in Engine/Transmission Controller Electronics5+ years of experience in Engine/Transmission/Chassis Controller ElectronicsMS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalentDFSS Master Black Belt CertificationKnowledge of SAFe PracticesIn-depth knowledge of verification and validation processesGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
