Salary Range: $135,000 – $147,000 per year + 8% geographical differential

Shift: Full-Time Nights | 12-hour shifts (7 PM – 7 AM) | Rotating weekends & holidays | No on-call

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Heart Failure ICU Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) to join a world-class healthcare team at a leading academic medical center in Houston, TX. As a key member of the Heart Failure ICU team, you will provide comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex cardiovascular and critical care cases, following the Texas Nurse Practice Act and established clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced, evidence-based care to critically ill cardiac patients
  • Manage patients with LVADs, ECMO (VV/VA), heart failure, post-op cardiac surgery, heart/lung transplants, and mechanical circulatory support
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and provide ongoing follow-up for complex cardiac cases
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians, nursing teams, and support staff to ensure the highest quality outcomes
  • Maintain documentation and compliance with hospital policies and state regulatory standards

Required Qualifications

  • Active Texas State License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) Certification – required
  • Certified in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of Critical Care experience as an RN or NP (Cardiac Care, CVICU, or Critical Care ICU)
  • Experience managing cardiac patients, including those with fresh transplants, LVADs, ECMO, and post-cardiac surgery recovery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with heart failure patient population
  • Prior Cardiology or Cardiovascular ICU experience
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex, high-acuity cases

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM), paid for 40 hours per week
  • Rotation: Weekends and holidays as scheduled; no on-call requirement
  • Compensation: $135,000 – $147,000 annually,
  • Credentialing Period: 2–3 months prior to start
