The Investment Operations team serves as a key enabler of Apollo's global business, delivering comprehensive operational support across our diverse portfolio of Funds, Separately Managed Accounts, and Portfolio Companies. Our expertise encompasses Trading Operations, Middle Office functions, Pricing and Reference Data, Reconciliation, Treasury Operations, and Business Management & Strategy. Through a strong commitment to robust risk management and scalable solutions, we enable Apollo to operate efficiently and adapt to the evolving needs of the organization.

Apollo is seeking a motivated, dynamic individual to join the Investment Operations team as a Summer Intern. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, including senior leadership, Finance, Internal Audit, and Compliance, as well as external partners such as Portfolio Companies and fund administrators. You will gain hands-on experience supporting end-to-end operational processes and participate in impactful projects alongside both junior and senior professionals. The ideal candidate demonstrates high learning agility, strong analytical and interpersonal abilities, and thrives in collaborative environments with team members at all levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

Apollo operates as a unified team, leveraging collaboration across regions and disciplines to identify and pursue exceptional opportunities. As a Summer Intern within Investment Operations, you will actively engage with professionals at all levels on a variety of projects and day-to-day initiatives that drive operational excellence. You will also expand your expertise across a broad spectrum of products, technologies, and professional competencies. Examples of highly relevant skills and exposures include:

  • Product knowledge exposure to private and public assets

  • Bank Debt and respective Facility Types (term loans, revolvers, delayed draws, etc.)

  • Commercial Real Estate loans
  • Public Funds
  • Corporate Bonds
  • Credit Default Swaps
  • Corporate Actions (Mandatory and Voluntary)
  • Foreign Exchange (FX)
  • Equity/Options (listed and OTC)
  • Financing Instruments (REPOs, Bond Forward etc.)
  • Deepening your understanding of core financial concepts, including P&L, NAV, and related analytics
  • Developing strong communication skills through day-to-day collaboration
  • Demonstrating a strong work ethic, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning and individual growth
  • Building proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), a requirement for the role
  • Gaining hands-on experience with operational systems relevant to the trade lifecycle, such as Order Management Systems and Accounting Systems
  • Exploring the application of artificial intelligence and automation within investment operations
  • Piloting and optimizing workflows via user driven automation (e.g., LLM prompt engineering or LLMs to create code such as Python scripts for ETL functions) and using the latest advancements such as agentic AI solutions
  • Engaging with Operations and Engineering/Data teams to learn best practices for change management when implementing new tools and processes

Your responsibilities may also include:

  • Maintaining data integrity and ensuring timely processing of transactions, while upholding operational controls and documenting evidence of compliance
  • Gaining insight into the integration and daily workflow of applications utilized by the Operations group
  • Partnering with internal teams across Apollo, fostering collaboration at multiple levels of management
  • Updating process documentation and providing clear audit trails for controls and calculations
  • Responding to inquiries, cultivating relationships, and collaborating with external stakeholders to resolve operational challenges
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of end-to-end support processes, including enhancements to operational procedures and learning tools
  • Working alongside Engineering and Data teams to automate workflows or apply artificial intelligence and analytics, thereby improving efficiency and strengthening internal controls
  • Assisting operations teams in understanding, testing, and adopting innovative technology platforms
  • Supporting a variety of ad-hoc requests, demonstrating adaptability and an eagerness to learn

Qualifications & Experience

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about operational excellence and driven by digital innovation.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a BA or BS degree in a STEM or Business-related field (Class of 2027), with a track record of academic excellence and a demonstrated commitment to finance and innovative technologies (including AI, machine learning, LLM prompt engineering, workflow automation and data analytics) through internships, work experience, or relevant coursework
  • Exhibit sharp critical thinking skills with an aptitude for quantitative and analytical problem solving, and communicate ideas effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Thrive in collaborative environments and can also excel independently, capably multitasking and prioritizing competing responsibilities to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
  • Display a proactive approach, strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude, paired with a dedicated work ethic and exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and adept at navigating data-driven tasks

Pay Range

$85,000-$90,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
