What we are looking for in youWe are seeking a highly organized and proactive Operations Associate or Operations Manager to support Glyphic's operational infrastructure. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring our laboratory environment, IT systems, and corporate administrative functions are maintained in service of our scientific teams and their success. The ideal candidate is a highly competent executor, able to seek and understand context and priorities, remain composed and effective under pressure, and enthusiastically take on ownership and responsibility. In this role, you will support a variety of tasks across procurement, lab operations, information technology, and corporate administration and have access to mentorship opportunities across numerous areas of the business. This role is perfect for a self-starter who wants to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, exempt, in-person role based at our Berkeley, CA facility. What you'll doAssist with lab and facilities operations, including lab upkeep, space planning, and coordinating equipment installation/management (repairs, calibrations).Execute regular inventory management, such as simple reagent creation, managing stockroom, processing orders (BOM and ad hoc), and handling shipping/receiving.Support all aspects of the company safety program, including SDS management, waste management, compliance documentation (CERS, calEPA), and internal/external inspections.Handle general administrative operations support, including access control, software management, and facilities inspections/modifications.Provide support for digital operations, including software provisioning, organizing and maintaining documentation, and contributing to process improvements and simple system automation.What you'll need:Articulable experience relevant to the role and a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, including:0+ years of relevant experience (for Operations Associate I)2+ years (for Operations Associate II)4+ years (for Senior Operations Associate)6+ years (for Operations Manager)Practical knowledge of chemical safety and lab hazardsExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and prioritize effectivelyAbility to make progress when information is limited or imperfectStrong computer competenceIdeal candidates will have one or more of the following:Ability to use common automation platforms (Atlassian, Zapier, n8n, etc.)Hands-on experience with EHS programs, safety training and inspectionsExperience managing scientific equipment lifecycle including service, calibration, and vendor coordinationFamiliarity with inventory management and procurement systems (Prendio, Quartzy, etc)We're looking for a teammate that:Navigates complex team dynamics, partnerships, and challenges with creativity and logic.Operates with adaptability, urgency, and flexibility in evolving environments, thriving in ambiguity.Drives work forward without needing to be asked, taking responsibility for outcomes rather than tasks.Treats obstacles as problems to be creatively solved, not reasons something can't be done.Applies sound judgment to the best available information, testing, learning, and iterating.Shares early and directly when assumptions change, results are unclear, or timelines are at risk.What you can expect from this role:Honest, useful feedbackSignificant execution- and planning-level responsibilityBroad scope of work with regular opportunities to try new thingsMeaningful mentorship/training opportunities across lab, facility, people and general business operationsThe freedom and trust to own projects, to fail, and to learn from mistakesCompensation:Estimated Base Salary $95, ,000This is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including, experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This range is for the SF Bay Area, California location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
