Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state with locations in Milwaukee and Appleton. Founded in 1982 by the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is a local and independent member of the Feeding America network. Together with our network partners, we serve nearly half a million food-insecure people across 35 counties in eastern Wisconsin each year.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Facilities & Standards Manager ensures the continuous readiness, safety, and efficiency of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin's warehouse operations and facilities across both campuses, with a focus on food safety, audit readiness, and facility excellence. This role oversees facility maintenance, safety programs, food safety practices, and audit standards, including AIB and OSHA. The position works in close partnership with operational leadership across campuses to maintain audit readiness, support operational excellence, and promote a safe, high-performing environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring a safe and reliable environment that supports our mission to efficiently deliver nutritious food to communities across Eastern Wisconsin.
What You Will Do:
- Strengthen a proactive culture of safety, prevention, and employee awareness across both facilities.
- Lead and maintain food safety and compliance programs that meet FDA, DATCP, AIB, OSHA, and local health and safety standards.
- Supervise Facilities staff and contractors across both campuses, ensuring accountability, performance, and alignment with FAEW's standards.
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and warehouse equipment.
- Update SOPs, manuals, and emergency procedures in collaboration with Operations leadership.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership on audit planning, preparation, and execution to keep both campuses audit-ready year-round.
- Conduct OSHA walk-throughs, support incident investigations, and partner on corrective action plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Safety, Compliance & Audit Management
- Lead day-to-day food safety and compliance programs to meet FDA, DATCP, health department, fire department, AIB, and other regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the Operations leadership on audit planning and execution to ensure both campuses remain audit-ready.
- Maintain temperature logs, pest control documentation, sanitation records, and audit files.
- Oversee bulk pallet rotation, sanitation schedules, and preventive compliance programs.
- Serve as a compliance liaison with Operations, Finance, and Food Safety teams to ensure documentation accuracy and accessibility.
- Conduct OSHA walk-throughs, support incident reviews, and partner with Operations leadership on corrective actions.
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
- Conduct facility walkthroughs and partner with campus Operations Managers on improvement planning and corrective actions.
- Oversee exterior maintenance, including landscaping and snow removal.
- Schedule and monitor internal and external maintenance and vendor work.
- Serve as the primary security contact for Milwaukee and support Appleton security coordination with Operations leadership.
- Manage key distribution, access systems, fire alarms, sprinklers, water systems, and mechanicals.
Safety Leadership
- Coordinate safety programs, training, drills, and emergency preparedness in partnership with Operations leadership.
- Support the organization in strengthening a proactive safety culture and hazard-prevention programs.
Team Leadership
- Supervise Facilities staff and contractors across campuses, ensuring completion of safety, compliance, and maintenance tasks.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and accountability to support operational goals.
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Oversight
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for building systems (HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, warehouse equipment).
- Maintain maintenance logs and repair records in alignment with audit standards.
Reporting, Systems & Documentation
- Maintain and optimize Helix, the facilities and asset management platform.
- Prepare reports on facility conditions, preventive maintenance, and compliance metrics.
- Maintain and update SOPs, manuals, and emergency procedures in collaboration with Operations leadership.
General Responsibilities
- Represent Facilities and Standards in cross-department initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Operations and Operations Managers to foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support facilities operations, compliance, and organizational mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commitment to understand and support FAEW's mission, vision, and effective actions to end food insecurity and its causes
- Respect for the people FAEW serves and commitment to learn the causes of their food insecurity and need
- Associate's degree or relevant experience in Operations, Supply Chain, or Facilities Management, preferred.
- Willingness to learn and become trained in AIB, OSHA, FDA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance, inventory integrity, and food safety compliance.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising staff and managing contractors or vendors required.
- Prior experience coordinating audits and safety programs preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- A positive, team-oriented mindset with a "can-do" approach to supporting the organization, demonstrating cross-functional collaboration and a focus on developing solutions.
- Forklift/power equipment certification must be obtained within two months of hire.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work safely following FAEW safety procedures.
- Must be or become within one month of employment ServeSafe Certified.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views.
- Must have a valid driver's license, automobile insurance that meets Feeding America's liability requirements, and transportation to travel to work sites.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, twist, climb, reach above shoulders, kneel, squat, sit, stand, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to lift, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must have the ability to work in a cold environment -10 to +10 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while moving inventory. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Protective Clothing Required: Close-toed shoes, Warm clothing when working in cold environment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a warehouse and office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
