Independent Hospitalist Physicians (IHP) has an immediate opening for a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join our Hospitalist Medicine team at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, MI. This is a full time (1,770 hours/year), night shift hour shifts), position. As part of our Hospital Medicine team you will work with a group of providers who are committed to providing excellent hospital patient care and experiences.

Position Summary:

Responsible for delivery of patient care through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides primary health care to hospital inpatients and observation patients in conjunction with collaborating physicians. Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professionalism. Additional duties may include policy and procedure development and participation in program evaluation activities.

Direct Care responsibilities include:

  • Performing pertinent physical examinations and clinical evaluations;
  • Managing clinical care;
  • Performing procedures;
  • Ordering and reviewing diagnostic studies;
  • Ordering and monitoring medications;
  • Participating in short-term and long-term planning of patient care with members of the inter-professional team, and
  • Coordinating the transition of outpatient care.
