Position: RAMP AGENT

Reports to: Assistant Manager of Ramp Operations or Department Supervisor

Requisites:

  • At least 18 years old

  • Successful completion of a 10-Year CHBC

  • "Negative" result on a pre-employment drug test

  • All applicable airport credentials and media

  • Must be able to lift to 70 pounds

  • Must be able to work in confined, tight spaces

  • Must be able to successfully obtain an AOA driving permit issued by MDAD

  • Must pass all company and customer assigned training for the position

Responsibilities for Ramp Agent

  • Marshaling aircraft, loading/unloading and sorting freight and baggage, servicing the aircraft, pushback and towing

  • Perform FOD walks of the gate areas assigned to all or a particular flight that the company is serving.

These walks must be conducted before the arrival of the aircraft, during the operation, and after the aircraft has been pushed back

  • Ensure that any piece of GSE assigned to a particular flight or ramp activity is in working condition by performing a safety walk around (360) before usage

  • Placement of chocks and cones around the aircraft

  • Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and weather conditions

  • Unload passenger luggage and air cargo, bulk and/or containers/pallets, onto carts and/or dollies, This function requires to be able to lift to 70 pounds by oneself and up to 100 pounds with the help of other team members.

  • Perform baggage reconciliation at the makeup and ramp areas using bingo sheets or handheld scanners

  • Collect and load live animals onto aircraft

  • Drive and/or operate ground support equipment which may include baggage tugs, baggage carts, aircraft steps, belt loaders, aircraft ground power units, tow bars, container loaders, water/lavatory service trucks, cargo dollies, and passenger vans.

  • Assist with record-keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of baggage

  • Report any potential or existing ramp hazard seen in the work area, using the company SMS reporting criteria, filling a HAZARD Report Form, or using any other type of communication method (verbal, email, telephone call)

  • Communicate with managers and Supervisors to manage daily schedules

  • Report equipment problems and breakdowns to facilitate fast repairs

  • Deliver air cargo to the appropriate recipient

  • Load/unload wheelchairs and child strollers and deliver to the designated location

  • Perform several AVSEC functions in compliance with all airport security directives, such as challenging individuals not displaying a proper ID badge inside the AOA, and making sure that everyone swipes when accessing the AOA through an unmanned door

  • Exceed ULTRA Aviation standards for customer service
