Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Application Development leads the vision, strategy, and delivery of enterprise applications that power Sundt's business operations. This role blends technical leadership with people management-guiding a high-performing, hybrid team through modern software development practices and continuous innovation.
They oversee the full lifecycle of application delivery, from design and architecture through deployment and ongoing optimization, ensuring every solution is scalable, secure, and aligned with Sundt's enterprise priorities. A hands-on leader who understands code, the Senior Manager drives modern engineering standards and embraces Al-assisted development to increase velocity and quality across the team.
This leader plays a pivotal role in shaping how Sundt delivers technology at scale-driving innovation, reliability, and user experience across applications that empower our people and projects. The Senior Manager ensures technology not only supports the business but advances how Sundt builds, collaborates, and competes. Success in this role is measured by predictable delivery, modernization of development practices, and the growth of a collaborative, high-performing team aligned with Sundt's strategic technology goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advance innovation and modernization by evaluating emerging technologies and frameworks that enhance development velocity and long-term maintainability.
Architect and oversee cloud-native enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure using Blazer, .NET, React, and , ensuring adherence to security and performance best practices.
Champion DevOps and intelligent automation through Azure DevOps, GitHub Repos, and Cl/CD pipelines-embedding Al-assisted development tools and practices to improve efficiency and code quality.
Communicate with clarity and influence, serving as a trusted partner to business stakeholders through
transparent reporting on priorities, progress, and risks.
Define and execute the application modernization roadmap in partnership with the Director of Data Engineering & Application Development, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
Deliver quality outcomes with precision by guiding sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and release management balancing strategic initiatives with tactical delivery to achieve both near-term milestones and long-term objectives.
Drive engineering standards and governance by setting clear expectations for design patterns, code quality, documentation, and maintainability across all projects.
Lead and develop high-performing teams through coaching, career development, and a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
Lead enterprise collaboration with peers in Data, Al, and Infrastructure to shape Sundt's integrated technology strategy ensuring application platforms scale cohesively, securely, and sustainably across the enterprise.
Model strategic leadership and technical foresight, anticipating future business needs and guiding cross-functional collaboration to strengthen Sundt's application ecosystem.
Optimize team structure by effectively managing FTE and near-shore resources for agility, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Minimum Job Requirements
years of experience in software/application development, with at least 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline combined with relevant job experience.
Demonstrated success establishing technical standards, architecture frameworks, and governance models.
Familiarity with Al-enabled development practices and intelligent automation tools is a plus.
Hands-on experience managing and contributing to modern web and cloud applications using Microsoft Azure, .NET, Blazor, React, and
Proven experience leading hybrid teams (full-time employees and near-shore contractors).
Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles, software lifecycle management, and agile/Kanban methodologies.
Strong background in Azure DevOps, Cl/CD pipeline management, and GitHub repository administration.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and levels.
