Mid-Level Network Engineer

Fort Meade, MD, Onsite

We are seeking an experienced
Mid-Level Network Engineer
to support mission-critical IT systems for a federal customer at
Fort Meade
. In this role, you will design, integrate, and maintain complex and secure network environments while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within federal security and compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

System Design & Integration

  • Design and implement scalable system and network architectures.
  • Integrate hardware and software components into cohesive, secure solutions.
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization efforts.

Lifecycle Support

  • Participate in system planning, requirements analysis, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines.
  • Support configuration control, change management, and continuous improvement activities.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure all systems meet federal security, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with ISSOs and cybersecurity teams to support RMF (Risk Management Framework) processes.
  • Identify vulnerabilities, apply patches, and implement mitigation strategies.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with program managers, developers, and fellow engineers to ensure system reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
  • Communicate technical issues and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, network operations, and infrastructure support.
  • Familiarity with DoD environments, federal security standards, and RMF processes.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, switching, and system performance tuning.
  • Active
    DoD security clearance
    (TS/SCI or as required by customer).
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • DoD 8570/8140 certifications (Security+, CCNA, Network+, etc.).
  • Experience with virtualization, cloud platforms, and automation tools.
  • Background supporting large-scale or mission-critical environments.
