Position: Court Clerk / Planning Commission Secretary

Status: Part-Time

Compensation: Based on Experience

Overview:

Uintah City is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and professional individual to serve as the Court Clerk/Planning Commission Secretary. This position provides administrative and clerical support to both the Uintah Justice Court and the Uintah City Planning Commission. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a busy municipal environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Court Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Justice Court Judge in preparing for and conducting court sessions.
  • Maintain accurate court records, case files, and documentation.
  • Process citations, payments, and court correspondence.
  • Communicate courteously with the public, law enforcement, and attorneys regarding court matters.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws and court procedures.

Planning Commission Secretary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute Planning Commission agendas, packets, and post public notices.
  • Attend Planning Commission meetings, record proceedings, and prepare accurate minutes.
  • Maintain official records, applications, and supporting materials.
  • Provide customer service to residents, developers, and staff regarding planning and zoning inquiries.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in typing, computer use, and standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to take and transcribe meeting minutes accurately.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a municipal or court setting.
  • Familiarity with Utah municipal processes, planning, and court procedures.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position, with regular office hours and attendance required at Planning Commission meetings, typically held in the evening.
