About This PositionThe Municipal Court provides equal access to justice, professional and impartial treatment, and the fair and timely resolution of all court matters. The Municipal Court performs its responsibilities in a manner that maintains the public's trust and confidence in the Court as an institution and enhances the public's respect for the rule of law while preserving and protecting individual rights guaranteed under the Constitution.The Courtroom Specialist will assist the Judges and Hearing Officers in the courtroom by performing court-related clerical work and coordinating the flow of court cases and hearings. Job duties follow established routines, but unusual cases require the application of judgment and discretion. The position reports directly to a Court Supervisor and works daily with a City Judge or Hearing Officer.Arraignments Section & Courtroom Operations Section Courtroom Specialists - Interact with defendants, attorneys, witnesses, victims, jurors, and police officers while processing judicial orders. Courtroom Specialists also prepare the docket, prepare courtrooms, ensure all essential parties and materials are present, record actions into the case management system, secure evidence, inform customers of procedures to be followed, and perform duties according to established court procedures. Work hours for both sections are Monday - Friday during regular business hours.Jail Court Section, Courtroom Specialist - Travel multiple times per day to the Maricopa County Jail and assist Judges in the jail courtroom. Courtroom Specialists interact with a high volume of in-custody defendants, attorneys, victims, police officers, and detention officers in a jail setting while processing judicial orders. Courtroom Specialists also prepare the docket, ensure all essential materials are present, record actions into the case management system, file cases, inform customers of procedures to be followed, and perform duties according to established court procedures. Work hours for the Jail Court Section vary, including one weekend day, some holidays, and a 4/10 schedule.IDEAL CANDIDATEKnowledge of Municipal Court procedures and legal and court terminology.SALARYPay Range: $ $36.84 per hour.Hiring Range:$ $35.08 per hour.Pay Range ExplanationPay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
