The Quality Engineer III will support the manufacturing of RF connectors by driving product and process quality through data analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation at our site in El Cajon, CA. This role holds MRB authority, ensures compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements, and collaborates cross-functionally to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and maintain regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement in a high-reliability environment. This role is critical in driving product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through data analysis, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Responsibilities- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Work directly with customers to understand and mitigate quality concerns, providing timely responses for containment, root cause, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
- Exercise Material Review Board (MRB) authority to disposition non-conforming material and coordinate rework or scrap actions.
- Support RMA activities, ensuring thorough investigation and resolution of returned product issues.
- Perform data analysis on inspection, test, and process metrics to identify trends, drive improvements, and support decision-making.
- Create, monitor, and improve production quality metrics such as first pass yield; develop visual dashboards, participate in daily GEMBA walks, and lead improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans and Part Acceptance Standards for Final Inspection, Assembly, and Receiving Inspection areas, ensuring requirements are flowed down to suppliers.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 and support PPAP submissions when required.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure design for manufacturability, process capability, and quality compliance.
- Support internal and external quality audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up activities.
- Read, interpret, and ensure customer requirements are properly flowed into internal processes and supplier purchase orders.
- Interface with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters, including audits, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Act as a Quality representative on the Engineering Change Control Board, ensuring quality considerations are integrated into design changes.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, NADCAP, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Lead and teach structured problem-solving using methodologies such as DMAIC and PDCA, ensuring corrective actions are validated and sustained.
- Perform internal audits and generate reports in accordance with company procedures.
- Lead cultural transformation of quality standards across the organization by reinforcing the Quality Management System and core values of respect, integrity, and accountability.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of technical industry experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a quality engineering role within the aerospace, defense, or RF/microwave components industry.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and military/aerospace standards.
- Experience with RF connectors, precision CNC machining, or electromechanical assemblies is required.
- Working knowledge of materials including plastics, metals, elastomers, and metal finishes.
- Proficiency in GD&T, SPC, FMEA, and statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with OEM documentation such as drawings, specifications, routers, BOMs, and parts lists.
- Demonstrated leadership or program management abilities, with a proactive approach to planning, organization, and problem resolution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed organization, effectively influencing others to achieve optimal results.

Equal Pay Act RangeThe annual pay range for this role is $93,800 to $140,000 per year, plus a benefits plan.
