Pay:
$45-71/hr
Job Purpose:
The Pre-Commissioning Engineer is responsible for coordinating, work connected with the testing and/or commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients. Individual will provide direct supervision over Electric Power Systems startup personnel along with others suppliers such as contractor electricians and engineering staff.
Responsibilities
- On-site project manager for protection and controls
- Work with construction foreman to plan wiring to field devices
- Schedule/lead wiremen
- Preliminary functional checks to prepare for commissioning
- Schedule relay technicians for settings upload, CT pulse, ratio, and ring out.
- Schedule commissioning engineers.
- Write and hold clearances for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
- Submit Daily reports and update redlines
Qualifications
- BS or 2 year degree in electrical engineering is a plus, along with experience in communicating with microprocessor type relays.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superior Safety record
- Broad experience with wide variety of electrical apparatus used in power industry, including transformers, breakers and switchgear.
- Experience in working in utility transmission substation is required.
