JOB SUMMARY:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, under the direction of physicians licensed to possess and use radioactive materials, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures as described in the Nuclear Medicine Manual of Policies and Procedures. Performance of these procedures requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the use of radionuclides for the diagnosis and therapy of human disease. This individual is trained and capable of performing patient care for the age groups: 0 to 105 years old.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist reports directly to Nuclear Medicine Chief Technologist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education:

a.) BS in Nuclear Medicine Technology is preferred.

b.) To be eligible for hire by BRHC the applicant must be a graduate of an

accredited Nuclear Medicine program or within 6 months of graduation.

2.Licensure/Certification:

a.) To be eligible for hire by BRHC applicant must be Board registered eligible by the Nuclear Medicine Society Certification Board, (NMTCB) and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine, (ARRT(N)), within 12 months of hire. Employee must test and pass his/her Nuclear Medicine certification by either the NMTCB or ARRT within 12 month of hire to maintain employment.

3.Work Experience:

a.) Prior experience in Nuclear Medicine and or a hospital setting is

preferable.

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares appropriate dosages of

radiopharmaceuticals and/or non-radioactive drugs in preparation for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The technologist maintains the required records relating to receipt, dosage, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials as mandated by federal and state regulations.
