A client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Power global practice. This position is responsible for the design and evaluation of mechanical systems associated with coal and natural gas fired generation facilities as well as associated support facilities. This person will perform work which involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Preferred applicants must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered and that may involve the following detailed aspects of work assignments:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • 4+ years related mechanical experience required; EPC project experience preferred
  • Construction piping design and equipment sizing experience preferred
  • Experience in the use of Arrow, Fathom, SmartPlant P&ID a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
  • Work on Design projects related to natural gas and coal fired generation facilities
  • Air Quality Control Systems and Effluent Limitation Guideline Management
  • Equipment sizing and application
  • Hydraulic calculations and associated pump selection, sizing, and application
  • Pipe and valve selection and sizing
  • Pipe material selection including fittings, gaskets, etc.
  • Pipe supports and pipe routing
  • P&ID's
  • Mechanical Equipment Condition Assessment and Lifecycle cost analysis
  • Plumbing (sanitary & potable water)
  • Pumping/piping any fluid or gas, including blowers, steam & compressed air
  • Tank/vessel selection and sizing
  • Selection and location of instrumentation associated with pumps, vessels, and tanks
