ADVISORY BOARD ON VETERANS AFFAIRS

Description: The Advisory Board shall serve as an advisory body to the Mayor, the Mayor's Office of Boards and Commissions, the Office of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Employment Services, the Department of Health, the Department of Human Services, and other District government departments, agencies, and offices on all matters pertaining to veterans in the District of Columbia. 

Qualifications: The Advisory Board shall consist of twenty-one (21) individuals who are appointed by the Mayor. All members shall be veterans who are residents in the District who have experience with, or an interest in, issues that impact the coordination and delivery of benefits and services to veterans. To the maximum extent possible, the membership of the Advisory Board shall reflect a representative cross-section of veterans in the District by age, branch of service, gender, and period of service (beginning with World War II). In addition, the Mayor may appoint such District government officials to serve on the Advisory Board in an ex-officio (non-voting) capacity as are necessary to carry out its functions.
