Sustainability and Facilities Manager

The Sustainability & Facilities Manager provides leadership, direction, and management oversight for continuous improvement in club-wide capital improvement strategy. The primary focus of this role will be large capital project management and monitoring environmental conditions, reporting, implementing sustainable practices and decarbonization projects, promoting sustainable behaviors, and ensuring compliance with environmental policies, and state regulation reporting.
What you will do:
- Project Management /Contractor & Architect Oversight and Community Relations: o Sets standards for securing contractors for facilities care and projects to meet standards and regulations. o Develops budgets and costs for yearly CAPEX, to include budget breakdowns, VE options, and schedules. o Oversees contractor performance for all work being completed on Club facilities, ensuring compliance with Club, state, and federal guidelines and recommendations. o Engages with local communities to address environmental concerns and build positive relationships. o Participates in public meetings, responds to inquiries, and collaborates on community improvement initiatives.
- Energy Reduction Management: o Develops a comprehensive renewable energy management program, including goals, operation requirements, reporting procedures, and long-term strategy. o Ensures compliance with federal regulations, standards, and professional guidelines related to workspace design, labor, transport, and maintenance of environmental services. o Tracks all utilities and develops key strategic plans for overall reduction in costs and usage. o Reviews and implements controls and programs with the clubs BMS (Building Management System) systems with the goal of reducing energy.
- Financial Management: o Formulates, communicates, and analyzes the budget, including capital requests and expenses. o Establishes a departmental dashboard to track, trend, and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Decarbonization Oversight: o Execute and monitor decarbonization initiatives in support of club goals. Including but not limited to Fleet electrification, solar and renewable energy implementation, paper reduction efforts, building and waste efficiency. o Track the impact and execution of initiatives across the organization.
- Program Strategy and Stakeholder Management: Partner with business leaders and teams to develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies, processes, and operations changes aligned with AAA Northeast's ESG goals and brand. o Determine feasibility and develop business cases (ROI) and financial justifications for sustainability projects, initiatives, and investments. o Manage and engage employee teams, Environmental Collaborative Council, in support of company environmental goals and identify opportunities to engage all employees and sustainability efforts.
- Environmental Impact, Reporting and Compliance: o Manages and monitors major projects' environmental impacts. o Conducts Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) to understand the impacts resulting from the Club's activities, projects, and operations. The EIA will focus on air quality, water resources, local ecosystems, waste management, and human health. o Lead the process for bi-annual data collection and analysis of Greenhouse Gas Inventory. Prepare regular reports and presentations on sustainability performance for internal stakeholders. o Communicates regularly with management and stakeholders, providing environmental performance and compliance updates. Will propose mitigation measures as necessary. o Remains up-to-date on local, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, and recommendations to ensure a positive impact on the Club's environmental influence from a facilities perspective. o Prepares and submits required reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, state environmental departments). These reports detail emissions, waste generation, and other environmental metrics.
- Emergency Preparedness and Risk Mitigation: o Oversee Building Services Business Continuity plan. o Ensures the Club has robust emergency response plans for environmental incidents (e.g., chemical spills, natural disasters). o Coordinates with relevant departments to conduct drills and train staff on emergency procedures based on environmental conditions and concerns. o Demonstrates working knowledge of facilities' controls related to environmental factors and uses knowledge and experience to mitigate risk to employees and members. o Identifies potential environmental risks associated with facilities operations. This includes assessing risks related to hazardous materials, pollution, and land use, UST placements and removals.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Environmental Science, Business Management, or other related degree required or
- 6+ Additional years of experience required
Experience
- 7+ years Experience in Facilities, Building Services required and
- 5+ years Leadership experience required and
- 3+ years Experience in business Environmental Services preferred
