The Product Developer II is responsible for executing a commercial product that delivers upon consumer, brand, and business needs. This person has extensive knowledge of materials, construction, and manufacturing capabilities that they communicate to the team and translate innovatively into physical product. They are skilled at communicating ideas both verbally and visually to efficiently bring product to the marketplace. The Product Developer II is a skillful problem solver and is constantly evolving to utilize new technologies and adapt greater efficiencies into their own and the team's workflow.
Primary Responsibilities:
Product Commercialization
- Lead the execution of product commercialization to deliver upon consumer expectations, cost targets, and timeline.
- Collaborates with the greater product team and design team on developing products, components, and trims that meet the quality and appearance of stakeholders.
- Owns the creation and maintenance of BOM, Tech specs, Color specs, Fit specs, and any other necessary materials/ assets to get physical product created with factory partners.
- Owns itemized BOMs for individual products and delivers on cost targets with innovative solutions.
- Collaborates on technical specification requirements with global and compliance teams.
- Leads all sample iterations and tracking for their category.
- Prototype, pattern, and conduct market research to validate and ideate upon early proof of concept ideas.
Organization and Tracking
- Keen adherence and tracking of timelines for all individual projects in process.
- Effectively communicates conflicting priorities and challenges in timeline adherence and collaborates on solutions to fit the needs of all stakeholders.
- Owns the creation and maintenance of PLM database and physical storage of all development assets.
Strategic Sourcing
- Efficiently leads all factory communications and concisely conveys changes or revisions to products.
- Bird-dogging vendors and suppliers to adhere to internal timelines and critical deadlines.
- Demonstrate a keen ability to proactively identify and address potential issues in supplier and factory relationships.
- Manage supplier / vendor relationships to gain strategic progresses to help development and costing process.
- Familiar with costing analytics and negotiating skills to maintain target cost.
Requirements:
Skills / Capabilities:
- Proven experience in development of physical product from concept to market
- Working knowledge of the product development process, vendor relationships, and manufacturing processes of cut-and-sew production.
- Working knowledge of PLM or other material and product management tools
- Solid knowledge of sourcing, costing and logistics
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Background in materials, trims, embellishment techniques.
- Computer proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with CLO, Solidworks
- Self-starter and creative problem solver that enjoys open-ended projects.
- Excellent collaboration skills and an ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines.
- High degree of agility and adaptability.
- Seasonal travel overseas to manufacturers will be required
