Position Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor has the responsibility for coordination of total customer care. The Nursing Supervisor performs responsible supervisory and professional work in directing and coordinating all nursing units. The individual must have had advanced training and broad nursing experience including supervisory duties,administrative ability,knowledge of training tecniques,ability to adapt techniques and procedures in accordance with unusual situations and the exercise of initiative and good judgement. The work is carried out according to standards of professional nursing practices,facility policies, rules and regulations and Stae and Federal standards.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • The Nursing Supervisor verifies daily staffing and redistribution, as neccessary.
  • The Nursing Supervisor makes rounds morning and night to assess residents condition giving special attention to critically ill residents.
  • Ensures that the the residents nursing care plan is followed for each resident
  • Performs medicationpassed and/or direct resident care as needed
  • Answers any/all emergencies throught the shift
  • The Weekend Nursing Supervisor reviews incident and invetigative reports for accurancy and completeness.
  • Performs other duties ae requested

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:

  • The Nursing Supervisor must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Experience in the nursing field, especially in geriatric nursing.
  • Supervisory experience in long term care ie required

Job Skills:

  • Must have through knowledge of nursing techniques and practices
  • Must have knowkedge of medication, their proper dosage and expected results.
  • Must have ability to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in a effective manner.
  • Must posses the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents,family members ,visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructiond in the English language, which may be of techical nature.
  • Must have the ability to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies.
  • Must have the ability to train subordinates in work procedures and to organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff.
  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
