Principal Technical Program Manager, Industrial Robotics
3 days ago
Our collaborative team is at the forefront of building world-class industrial automation solutions. Our team is searching for a high energy Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) that can manage the complexity and vast technical workstreams across the intersection of production engineering and factory construction.
As the TPM, you seek to maximize decision-making velocity by removing obstacles between production engineering teams designing tooling and equipment and the construction teams building the physical factory. While this role does not ultimately own headcount allocation, you are empowered to audit, evaluate, and escalate risk to the functional leader when headcount allocation or misaligned feature management is a driver of risk to schedule or the overall technical vision. Your role is critical to managing the total timing, overall risks/issues and dependencies, and scope changes between production engineering and construction teams.
Key job responsibilities
- Establishing a mechanism and cadence to manage the relationship between production engineering and factory construction teams
- Managing escalations or misalignments when there are risks to delivering committed factory infrastructure with high quality; facilitating/leading tradeoff decisions with stakeholders and partner teams when there are conflicting priorities between production requirements and construction constraints
- Working with teams to determine whether a decision is a one-way or two-way door. Managing necessary discussions with production and construction teams to manage expectations, impacts, and risks associated with said decision(s)
- Ensuring role clarity and escalating to functional leadership when there are misalignments that impact delivering on commitments between production engineering and construction teams
- Developing and publishing a clear RACI to create transparency with both production engineering and construction teams to drive ownership and accountability
- Coordinating across internal teams to ensure alignment on critical specifications including power requirements, factory flow, fire suppression systems, and other facility infrastructure needs
- Exercising strong technical judgment to influence and drive decisions that balance production equipment requirements with building construction constraints
- Ability to understand scalability requirements and determine feasibility of production layouts at scale – acting as the voice back to Production Engineering and Construction teams to protect for those requirements in the physical factory design
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience with manufacturing environments, production engineering, or facility construction preferred
