Position Overview
The Kennel Assistant plays an essential role in the daily care and comfort of hospitalized, boarding, and post-surgical patients. This position supports the veterinary team by maintaining a clean, safe, and stress-free environment for all animals while assisting with feeding, walking, and monitoring their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide daily care to dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring behavior.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, runs, cages, and hospital areas following OSHA and hospital protocols.
• Assist veterinary technicians and doctors with animal handling, restraint, and treatments as needed.
• Observe and report any signs of illness, stress, or abnormal behavior to the medical team immediately.
• Wash and disinfect food bowls, litter boxes, bedding, and other equipment regularly.
• Help with laundry, waste disposal, and general facility upkeep.
• Support front office or technician staff by safely transporting pets to and from exam rooms or boarding areas.
• Maintain accurate records for feeding, walks, eliminations, and treatments.
• Provide kind, compassionate, and professional care to every pet and communicate politely with clients when needed.

Requirements
• Love for animals and genuine compassion for their care.
• Prior experience in animal handling or kennel work preferred (but not required).
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs, bend, and stand for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous work in a veterinary hospital or boarding facility.
• Knowledge of safe animal restraint techniques and basic pet care.
• Familiarity with cleaning/disinfecting agents and biohazard protocols.
