We are seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a passion for pediatric emergency medicine to join our dynamic team. This position offers the challenge of independent patient management within a collaborative, team-based care model, allowing you to practice at the top of your license in a leading pediatric hospital Emergency Department.
Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will function as an independent clinician while seamlessly integrating into our interdisciplinary care team. This role involves the direct care and primary clinical management of pediatric patients across a variety of settings, with a primary focus on the Emergency Department.
APP for active pediatric emergency department exercise full scope of practice. This is a team-based model of care with a mix of independent visits and visits paired with an attending physician.
Key Responsibilities
Independent Patient Assessment & Management: Obtain comprehensive patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate/implement evidence-based treatment plans.
Medical Prescribing: Prescribe medications and therapeutic measures appropriate for the patient population.
Collaborative Care: Collaborate, refer, and consult with Emergency Department attending physicians, pediatric specialists, and other health care team members to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care.
Settings of Practice: Provide direct care across multiple settings, including ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings.
Case Management: Direct or participate in case management and continuing care planning.
Quality & Education: Contribute to organizational and departmental Continuous Performance and Quality Improvement (CPQI) projects, and participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.
Schedule Requirements
Primarily night coverage.
Rotating schedule which includes weekends and holidays.
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
Required Credentials:
For Nurse Practitioners:
Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington
Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
For Physician Assistants:
Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
For All Providers:
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.
Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's. Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies. Questions regarding medical or allied health professional staff privileges may be directed to Medical Staff Services.

Two years experience in advanced practice provider role
Two years experience in pediatric health care
Compensation Range
$124,355 - $182,892.50 per year
Note: This position is currently eligible for an off-shift premium of up to 15% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $18,653.25 to $27,433.87 per year.
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
