Role Overview
The Account Manager will be responsible for driving profitable growth through the retention and expansion of key accounts, while actively pursuing new business opportunities in the industrial components and supply chain sectors. This role requires a balance between protecting existing business and developing new customer relationships, supported by strategic territory planning and consistent customer engagement.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage and grow existing accounts through regular in-person and virtual touchpoints.
- Identify and win back lapsed accounts (no sales ≥2 years) and pursue new prospects within assigned territory.
- Develop and execute territory plans with monthly customer visit cadence.
- Prioritize high-volume accounts while identifying cross-sell opportunities across component categories (seals, gaskets, plastics, fittings, hardware).
- Use CRM and reporting tools to track activity, pipeline progress, and lapsed-part opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and supply chain teams to align solutions with customer needs, ensuring on-time and correct product delivery.
- Coordinate with vendors on stocking systems, inventory tracking, and supply chain efficiency.
- Present day account and pipeline plans with measurable growth goals.
Required Background
- 5+ years in B2B account management and new business development.
- Demonstrated success defending, expanding, and winning back accounts.
- Experience in industrial components, distribution, or supply chain solutions.
- Strong organizational skills: territory planning, CRM usage, disciplined follow-up.
- Comfort with technical products (seals, gaskets, plastics, fittings, engineered hardware).
- Clear examples of growth wins (expansion of existing accounts, new business acquisition, customer retention).
- Travel flexibility (50–60%) and ability to sustain monthly customer cadence.
- Persistent and resourceful in pursuing new opportunities.
- Strong customer-first approach, credible with engineers and purchasing leads.
- Skilled at balancing account defense with proactive hunting.
- Comfortable using CRM and reporting to design account strategies.
- Able to quickly adapt to technical products and industry applications.
Compensation & Perks
- Competitive salary $125,000 Annually + Commission ($200K OTE)
- Sales incentive plan: 20% of base salary (~$25,000) annual bonus
