This Role
Our Customer Experience team is currently seeking an EDI Specialist. This will be a remote based role residing within a commutable distance to our Grand Rapids, MI, Detroit, MI or Vacaville, CA offices.
What You Will Do
The EDI Specialist will ensure data accuracy and full alignment between Customer Service, Credit & A/R, IT, and Vendor Compliance. The EDI Specialist will safeguard revenue flow by minimizing chargebacks, preventing invoice delays, and strengthening customer relationships through consistent, compliant electronic communication.
How You Will Do It
- Manage and monitor the full lifecycle of EDI transactions including purchase orders (850), invoices (810), advance ship notices (856), remittance advice (820), and acknowledgments (997).
- Identify transmission issues that could impact order processing, shipping notifications, or invoice delivery.
- Coordinate testing and implementation for new trading partners or document types, ensuring smooth integration for Customer Service and Credit teams alike.
- Act as the liaison between Customer Service, Credit, IT, and Vendor Compliance to resolve EDI-related issues quickly and efficiently.
- Track EDI transaction success rates and analyze recurring issues impacting service levels or cash application timing. Recommend process enhancements that improve automation, reduce manual touches, and strengthen data accuracy for both orders and invoices. Develop reports or dashboards to give leadership visibility into transaction health, deduction prevention, and compliance trends.
- Utilize detailed transaction logs and communication records to support audit readiness and internal controls by providing documentation of EDI validation, transmission accuracy, and compliance adherence to internal audit.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree with previous EDI experience or at least 6 years of equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with pivot tables and V-lookups a plus.
- Deep understanding of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and core document types (810, 850, 856, 820, 997).
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle and SAP).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical issues into business impacts for both Customer Service and Credit.
- Collaborative mindset focused on partnership, accuracy, and operational excellence
- Current U.S. work authorization without requiring future visa sponsorship.

Work Environment
This is a mostly from-home position that would require occasional trips to collaborate with the team at our Kentwood, MI office space. (You don't have to work in a call center)
