Summer 2026, Property
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team for the summer This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the commercial insurance sector, working closely with experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a hunter sales mentality and an eagerness to learn and contribute to our team's success.
What We Offer:
Interns are a big deal to us We understand what a positive internship experience can do to catapult your career, which is why we are excited to announce our Summer 2026 program, in partnership with our new parent company, IMA Financial Group.
Our program allows you to engage directly in our values-driven culture, while allowing you to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the multi-faceted insurance industry. You'll receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals, with access to senior leadership and industry experts. There are intentional opportunities for both professional and personal development that will serve you well beyond your time as an intern. Not only is compensation competitive, but there is also the potential for future full-time employment.
This role offers the chance to gain valuable experience at our Birmingham office under a 5-day in-office, 35-hour work week. Your time will include programming tailored for our Birmingham interns, as well as participation in a cohort of other IMA interns across the country.
What You'll Do:
Our interns are NOT here to do the grunt work for other associates. Your days will be varied, with intentional focus on both professional and personal development. You'll be stretched in industry knowledge, business acumen, presentation skills, and what it looks like to be part of a values-driven team.
- Collaborate with team members on various projects and initiatives.
- Support the sales team in developing and executing sales strategies.
- Support production efforts by assisting with quoting new clients, preparing proposals, and contributing to coverage summaries, historical loss reviews, and benchmarking analyses.
- Build core industry knowledge by attending sales calls, engaging in licensing preparation, and observing best practices in client relationship management.
- Collaborate with producers during client renewals, participating in meetings and on-site visits to understand renewal strategy and client needs.
- Leverage problem-solving skills to support day-to-day client servicing needs
We're proud of the success many of our former interns have had when they've pursued careers as IMA associates' post-graduation and see our internship program as a key talent pipeline. Because of this, preference is given to students closer to graduation, who demonstrate a curiosity about future employment within our industry.
What We're Looking For:
- A rising senior enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. A concentration in sales or RMI is also a plus.
- A strong interest in sales.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and provide creative solutions
- Ability to connect with a diverse group of people. A proven track record as an influential member of a sports team, Greek organization, or other extracurricular activity is a plus.
- Previous sales experience is a plus.
Benefits:
This internship is designed as a learning and development opportunity and does not include participation in the medical, dental, and vision insurance, and any other benefits program that are provided solely to regular full-time associates. You will, however, enjoy IMA paid holidays and five days of LifeBalance PTO during your internship. The LifeBalance PTO is inclusive of vacation, sick time or personal time.
Compensation:
This position is classified as nonexempt and is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly pay range for IMA interns is 18.00 to 22.00 dollars and is determined by your expected graduating year. You will be paid for all hours worked and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
This Job Description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising this position. The IMA Financial Group, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. In addition to federal law requirements, The IMA Financial Group, Inc. complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location in which the company has facilities.
Compensation & Benefits
Being a part of IMA has its benefits. When you become part of the IMA family, you become eligible to take part in our valuable benefits and rewards package designed to benefit you, your family, and your life. Our plans are cost-effective, convenient and provide progressive ways for staying healthy, protecting loved ones, pursuing financial security and living a full and balanced life.
