Senior Director of Advancement

SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Advancement is a key member of the executive leadership team and serves as the organization's chief fundraising strategist for all philanthropic, grant, and event-based revenue. This role provides strategic direction and oversight for major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, events, and grants, ensuring revenue goals are met monthly, quarterly and annually to support the mission of the organization. The Senior Director of Advancement builds and manages a high-performing team, works closely with the CEO, C-Suite and Board of Directors, and builds strong relationships with donors, funders, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
· Develop and execute a comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising strategy to support an $18 million organizational budget.
· Raise a minimum of $2 million in annual contributed revenue through a diversified portfolio of major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundations, and events.
· Conduct at least 5 meetings each month with prospective donors to cultivate and advance new relationships.
· Conduct a minimum of 5 meetings each quarter with current major donors to steward and grow existing partnerships.
· Maintain consistent monthly touchpoints with members of the Board of Directors, supporting their fundraising engagement and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
· Provide strategic leadership for donor acquisition, retention, stewardship, and pipeline development.
Grants & Institutional Funding
· Oversee the full grants portfolio, including foundation, and corporate funding.
· Supervise and coordinate grant writing work being performed by staff and external contractors to ensure timely submission, accuracy, and alignment with programmatic goals.
· Monitor reporting schedules and ensure all grant compliance requirements are met.
Events & Strategic Initiatives
· Partner closely with the contract event planner to set, track, and monitor revenue and engagement goals for all agency-sponsored events.
· Ensure event timelines, planning processes, sponsorship strategies, and deliverables are effectively managed and met.
· Provide strategic oversight for the Allies Circle initiative, monitoring monthly progress, identifying challenges, and implementing strategies for increased engagement and revenue growth.
Leadership & Management
· Supervise advancement staff, providing coaching, professional development, and accountability to ensure high performance and goal achievement.
· Develop and manage the advancement department budget.
· Ensure accurate and timely donor data management, CRM reporting, and performance tracking.
· Serve as a key representative of the organization in the community, fostering relationships that enhance visibility and philanthropic support.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· $2 million in annual contributed revenue raised.
· Monthly board touchpoints completed and documented.
· 5 prospective donor meetings monthly.
· 5 major donor stewardship meetings quarterly.
· Monthly review and reporting on Allies Circle initiative successes and challenges.
· On-time and complete grant submissions managed by staff and contractors.
· All event timelines met, with event goals set and monitored collaboratively with contract event planner.
· Departmental performance reports delivered monthly to CEO.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
· Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
· Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing a multi-channel fundraising program.
· Proven ability to cultivate and steward long-term donor relationships, including high-net-worth individuals.
· Experience supervising staff and managing contractors.
· Strong knowledge of donor databases, fundraising best practices, and grants management.
· Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a high-paced environment.
Agency Compliance:

· Communicates proactively and professionally with peers and stakeholders through phone and emails.
· Follow all regulatory requirements for reporting suspected abuse or neglect.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic proficiency in database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Knowledge and experience in database development and/or data management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
Language Skills
Ability to read and write at a professional level: to read, analyze, and interpret and implement general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to gather data, analyze information and interpret information to build useful and required reports or presentations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to adapt a budget into a tracking form and understands the basics of a budget.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks by using reasoning to determine priorities. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Working Conditions:
· Environment: Office environment with occasional travel required for donor meetings and events.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and participate in meetings and events, both in-person and virtually.
Pay: $105, $117,500.00 per year
