Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specimen Technician to join our team for the 3rd shift. This role involves managing and processing various clinical and research specimens within a fast-paced laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory management skills, familiarity with laboratory techniques, and experience in specimen collection and processing. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to vital healthcare and research operations, supporting patient care and scientific advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, label, and process biological specimens following strict aseptic techniques to ensure sample integrity.
  • Manage laboratory workflows, including specimen tracking, storage, and documentation in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage procedures.
  • Assist with laboratory procedures such as venipuncture, spinal taps, and other specimen collection methods as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimen details, test results, and procedural notes in laboratory information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and hospital or research facility policies during specimen handling.
  • Support laboratory management by maintaining equipment calibration, cleanliness, and inventory of supplies.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff or research teams to facilitate timely processing of specimens for diagnostic or experimental purposes.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory management principles and laboratory procedures.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, phlebotomy, spinal taps, and specimen processing.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen handling.
  • Experience in clinical or research laboratories, including hospital or veterinary settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and relevant procedures like cardiac catheterization or catheterization.
  • Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) when necessary for safety compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple samples efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills to document procedures accurately and collaborate with team members. This position requires candidates to demonstrate a solid foundation in laboratory practices combined with a commitment to precision and safety in specimen management.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $ $24.00 per hour
