Overview

We're seeking a Server Administrator with deep operational expertise to support our client's infrastructure team on a contract basis. This role is focused on long-term virtualization, server hardening, and establishing a patching cycle, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across InfoSec and business units. If you thrive in mid-sized environments and enjoy spinning up VMs, optimizing systems, and keeping infrastructure secure and efficient — we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision and manage virtual machines using VMware
  • Perform server hardening and implement security best practices
  • Establish and maintain a patching cycle for Windows servers
  • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Monitor and optimize storage and compute resources
  • Perform server patching, hardening, and build-outs in coordination with the InfoSec team
  • Document procedures and configurations using Confluence and Google Docs
  • Manage service requests and incidents via ServiceNow
  • Support ongoing infrastructure projects and ensure operational continuity

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Windows Server administration
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware and Hyper-V
  • Solid understanding of storage systems, compute environments, and server hardware
  • Experience with Active Directory and enterprise patching strategies
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Confluence, and Google Docs
  • Proven ability to work in mid-sized server environments
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
