Position Summary:

The HR Manager will support and help lead the full scope of human resources functions across our charter school network. This role is responsible for employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and support with talent development and retention initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Lifecycle & EngagementManage, document, and refine onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive employee experience with thorough documentation.Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day employee questions, tickets, concerns, and policy interpretation.Support employee engagement initiatives and help promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and accountability.Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, references, and preboarding compliance. Benefits AdministrationAdminister CALSTRS for certificated employees. Administer benefits programs including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and leave of absence policies.Lead open enrollment process and provide clear communication to staff on benefits offerings.Maintain accurate employee benefits records in HRIS / Payroll system.Represent Envision in liaising with insurance brokers, carriers, and third parties. Compliance & PoliciesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal HR policies.Maintain personnel files, HRIS records, and data in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation related to HR and labor compliance. Employee RelationsSupport investigations and resolution of employee concerns, conflicts, and complaints with professionalism and discretion.Partner with school leaders and the HR Director on performance management and progressive discipline processes.Conduct employee relations, performance discussions, and salary reviews to support retention and engagement.
  Systems & ProcessesCoordinate with payroll to ensure employee compensation is accurate, timely, and documented.Audit and reconcile payroll and benefits to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Coordinate wage and disability claimsEnsure HRIS and other employee data systems are accurate and up to date.Generate reports and dashboards for HR metrics (turnover, leave, engagement indicators).Help streamline workflows and develop tools, templates, and resources for managers and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required3+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.Strong working knowledge of California labor and employment law.Experience managing benefits, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance processes.High emotional intelligence, discretion, and excellent communication skills.Proficiency in HRIS platforms, Google Workspace, and Excel. PreferredExperience with UKG Ready.PHR or SHRM-CP certification.Experience supporting unionized employees and/or knowledge of collective bargaining environments.


LOCATION
San Francisco Bay Area office located in Oakland, with occasional required travel to school sites in Hayward, San Francisco, and Oakland.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
