Onsite – Edison, NJ (Hybrid)

Job Description ::

  1. Execute routine program walk-throughs prior to all code change releases

  2. Provide support to development teams, including handling error codes, binding programs to specific schemas, and addressing data integrity issues in the development environment. Additional acitivites may include, physical modeling, logical modeling, and supporting performance issues.

  3. Enhance SQL performance monitoring and tuning

  4. Activity Details

  5. Execute Program Walk-throughs

i. Analyze and scan program code changes (e.g. COBOL, DB2 components, etc.) and SQL statemetns for efficiency, accuracy, and cost optimization

ii. Provide feedback to development team before deploying to production

iii. Streamline SDLC process for code releases

  1. Support Development team

i. Maintain integrity of development and production environments (approximately 10 environments, 10 schemas)

ii. Manage space constraints/volume concerns

iii. Populate development environment from provided flash copies

iv. Monitor utilities and control of database objects

  1. Utilize ticketing process and L2 support foundation to handle development issues

i. Participate in regular team stand-up meetings

  1. Utilize Wakefern formalized defect and issue tracking system

  2. Perform data archiving and quarterly purges

  3. SQL performance monitoring and tuning

i. Analyze traces and identify programs that have exceeded percentage thresholds for average CPU utilization

ii. Optimize monitoring of DB2 using Mainview and other tools

iii. Streamline alert messaging

iv. Reduce log fatigue

v. Proactive measurement of scalability and data volume

vi. Support the documentation of all net new processes and tools developed during the program, and establish a centralized knowledge repository to ensure continuity and broader team enablement.
