Location: Hybrid work schedule in the Rockville, MD, office (3 days a week in the office; Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays)
The Staff Accountant will share fusionSpan's culture and company values, as well as manage daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end reporting. This individual is organized, comfortable working autonomously in an agile and fast-paced global environment, while also having strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll.
- Record daily AP/AR financial transactions, month-end journal entries, and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Process semi-monthly US payroll and review international EOR and PEO invoices for accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles (GAAP) and government regulations, and support audits by providing documentation and reconciliations.
- Monitor budget variances, track expenditures, and help with the preparation of forecasts.
- Analyze existing financial processes and recommend or implement improvements for accuracy and efficiency. Use of automations and AI to expedite daily processes.
- Assist with contract review.
- Assist with various special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred.
- At least 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online), HRIS software(BambooHR), and advanced spreadsheet(Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel) knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are necessary to reconcile discrepancies and analyze data.
- High accuracy and attention to detail are essential for handling sensitive financial data.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is critical.
- Experience with Salesforce is desirable but not required
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $50,000 - $65,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and may vary accordingly.
