POSITION OVERVIEW:
Typically, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., subject to change based on operational needs as determined by the Supervisor of Maintenance. This role is responsible for leading preventive maintenance programs, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting facility infrastructure. The position requires hands-on maintenance and repairs for plumbing, heating, and HVAC mechanical systems, while providing leadership and technical guidance to the crew. Strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and professionalism are essential. The individual will collaborate across teams, guide maintenance staff, and contribute to long-term planning, including capital improvements and construction projects.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma required
- College coursework, trade school, or a minimum of ten years of related professional and managerial experience
- Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining physical plant equipment used in schools and offices
- Proven experience in training personnel and preparing daily and long-range work schedules

- Strong background in plumbing, heating, and HVAC mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues
- Experience supervising maintenance crews and coordinating workflow
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements
Essential Job Functions
- Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs for plumbing, heating, and HVAC mechanical systems
- Drive continuous improvement of the preventive maintenance program
- Ensure cost-effective methods and techniques are applied in PM operations
- Perform and maintain condition surveys on facilities and infrastructure
- Prepare work and training schedules; evaluate assigned maintenance staff
- Conduct on-site observations of maintenance personnel
- Provide input on Capital Improvement, Planning, and Construction projects
- Develop and maintain operating procedures and process manuals for Work Control operations
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and operate machinery. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, such as a toolbox. Occasionally, the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs., such as furniture or equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus. The employee will regularly work indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, cleaners, fertilizers, seed, and non-household dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and occasionally will work in a loud area.
