Staff Accountant

Summary:

ProCraft Cabinetry Inc. is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Chicago, IL. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting our Senior Account Manager and finance team by performing the day-to-day management, including monthly reconciliation, accounting tasks, and closing of the company's financial records. The Staff Accountant directly ensures compliance with company policies, GAAP, accounting principles, and state/federal financial laws. The Staff Accountant must work from our Chicago office 5 days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performance metrics to assist Management with financial decisions and cash management.
• Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, and balance sheet accounts.
• Assists with audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements.
• Assists the Account Manager and the accounting department in the preparation of monthly journal entries.
• Assist with journal entries, invoices, etc., and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing.
• Act as liaison between Chicago and other locations, bankers, legal counsel, and others. Oversee, in conjunction with outside experts, regulatory reporting to include corporate taxes, sales taxes, payroll taxes, business registrations, loan compliance/renewals, and insurance coverages.
• Assists the Account Manager with annual reporting of office activities and all other financial and management reports as required.
• Coordinate/communicate with business executives regarding operational needs and accounting issues.
• Assist with special projects assigned by management.
• Maintain organized, accurate, and complete accounting records, electronically and in hard copies, as necessary.
• Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Develop proficiency in A/R and A/P processes/procedures to be able to provide backup for these areas when needed.
• Review accounting processes for internal operational support and customer service to make recommendations as part of ongoing best practices improvement.
• Prepare the Month-end close function for the preparation of financial/operational reports.
• Assists with taxes and other financial responsibilities on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper procedures and update the procedures when appropriate.
• Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Have 1-3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Experience with AR invoicing/AP invoicing.
• Solid use SAP system and QuickBooks accounting software.
• Understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Have the work authorization in the USA.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.

Work Schedule:

• 8-hour shift.
• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. In-person at the corporate office.

Job Tye: Full-Time.

Salary pays: $65,000 per year.
